Enclosed is the latest edition of the HotSheet—August 2013.
As I write this I am gearing up for our Us TOO University
Town Hall meeting later this week in Austin, which includes a Pints for
Prostates awareness event.
I also can’t help thinking we will soon be
addressing Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Now is the time to prepare and plan
for September, which starts out with the 2013 Prostate Cancer Conference in Los
Angeles on September 6th-8th produced by PCRI, the Prostate Cancer Research
Institute. Us TOO will be coordinating interested volunteer group leaders to
lead groups during the conference. I see group rates on the hotel are available
until August 14th and regular registration fees stand until September 5th. You
can register at www.PCRI.org. I know Us TOO will be well represented by several
of our board members including Bill Seidel and Vice Chairman, Dave
I am pleased to say I will be in Greenville, SC for the
celebration of the Harvey Floyd Chapter’s 20 year anniversary on September 9th.
On Sunday the 15th I will be in Chicago’s Lincoln Park for the 9th Annual SEA
Blue Walk/Run to celebrate Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. The event is off to
an outstanding launch so far and we are setting new records. You can find
information and register on the Us TOO website at www.ustoo.org. I’d like to thank all of the returning and new event participants and sponsors, in addition to Uropartners for joining Us TOO and Wellness Place as an event presenter this year. Please support
us in our efforts to assure education and support as both Wellness Place and Us
TOO benefit from this event. You can even support us as a virtual attendee.
This year Steve Sanders, a prostate cancer warrior and WGN TV Channel 9 mid-day
show co-anchor, will again be our honorary emcee.
A few days after the SEA Blue Walk/Run, I hope to see many of you in Washington,
DC again this year for the Public Policy Summit. On September 17th through the
19th ZERO will again be conducting this gathering. As they say on their

I personally believe that being aware and active on public
policy issues are essential and this gathering is an important forum. ZERO’s
website has information at http://zerocancer.org/. I also want to mention the 9th Annual African
American Prostate Cancer Disparity Summit sponsored by PHEN, the Prostate
Health Network, which will also take place in Washington, DC on September 19th
through the 20th. You can find information at http://prostatehealthed.org/.
I hope you enjoy the August HotSheet and find the time to
gear up for September. I appreciate all you are doing out there to move our
