Friends and Supporters of Us TOO,
This is hot…we wanted to share the latest news on the Prostate Cancer Research Program (PCRP) of the Department of Defense's Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) and share the need for immediate action. Please contact your representative and ask them to continue to support the work of the DOD for prostate cancer research TODAY!
I am sure you know by now that the DOD’s Prostate Cancer Research Program, which many of you serve in as volunteer consumer reviewers, is responsible for many of the most recently approved new treatments for prostate cancer.
Last year, this program was funded by Congress without a cut after strong support and solid work by Rep. Cliff Stearns from Florida. This program is not part of the President’s Budget proposal; it is a thing Congress does!
Your support is needed again and the time for action is now. This program is one of Us TOO’s top advocacy priorities as is the case for the Prostate Cancer Roundtable, ZERO, Prostate Cancer International and many of the other groups which advocate for prostate cancer. If you take action on anything, this is the place to act.
Please ask your representative to support funding of the Prostate Cancer Research Program at the Department of Defense by signing the Dear Colleague letter circulated by Congressman Pete King. The deadline to sign the letter was set for Monday, March 19. We have heard from our friends at ZERO that deadline will now close at end of business TODAY.
Please use the action alert system provided on the ZERO -- The Project Against Prostate Cancer web site to write to your Congressperson. ZERO has a form letter for you to use or you can customize the letter to meet your personal needs. Please write today and tell your friends and relatives to write their Congressman or Congresswoman, too.
Thanks so much,
President & CEO
