Dear Friend,

On Sunday, more than 1,000 people gathered under sunny skies in Chicago’s Lincoln Park for the 10th Annual SEA Blue Chicago Prostate Cancer Walk & Run. The event was a beautiful testament to the commitment and activism of the local prostate cancer community!

SEA Blue 2014 CrowdOur sincere thanks to everyone who helped to make the event a success: the walkers and runners along with sponsors, donors, volunteers and staff; the physicians in the education tent, the UroPartners team in the PSA testing van, and the Jessie White tumblers!

We are especially grateful to SEA Blue event founders Shirley Grey and Myrna Porter, who addressed the crowd from the stage along with Scott Gould, Russ Gould Jr. and Nancy O’Brien, the children of Russ Gould, who passed away last December after a long battle with prostate cancer. This event was born 10 years ago when Shirley, Myrna and Russ Sr. decided to fight back with the first steps that have inspired thousands of participants to walk or run to raise close to $3 million to help thousands of people through education initiatives and support services provided at no charge.

The energy, time and dollars invested in this year's event are very much appreciated, and together we’ve raised more than $106,000. Our aggressive goal of $200,000 is grounded in the reality that there is much to do to adequately address all that’s needed in the prostate cancer community. The SEA Blue event serves as an important platform for funding local programs.

2014 5K WinnersCongratulations to Kevin Coster, 58 years old, from Oak Forest, IL, who returned to defend his first-place title from last year in the prostate cancer survivor division. His race time of 24:06.8 shaved off more than a second from the race he ran last year at 25:38.7. Way to go, Kevin!

Kathleen Shell, 32, from Chicago, won the 5K women's division with the time of 21:34.4; and Steven Koopman, 36, from Chicago crossed the finish line with a time of 19:56 to win the men's division. Congrats!

TEAM SPIRIT
And congratulations to all 56 members of Team Trinco, team captain Darryl Trinco, and his wife, Debbie, for taking home the Team Spirit Award!

LOST… and FOUND?
In the hustle and bustle of the day’s activities, a baby blanket was lost. Yellow with kitties on one side and a cross-stitched heart with ‘Nicole Rose’ on the other, the blanket is a family heirloom. The hope is that a do-gooder picked it up and we can return the blanket to the baby!
