Dear Friend,

Rain or shine, a crowd sporting positive attitudes and determined spirits will gather once again on September 14th in Lincoln Park for the 10th anniversary of the SEA Blue Chicago Prostate Cancer Walk & Run. The tradition will continue on many levels for many people—from runners pushing to shave seconds off their time while racing to the finish line—to walkers waving a team flag to honor a loved one who’s lost his battle.

Please register and/or donate to help make this year’s SEA Blue 10th anniversary event bigger and better than ever!

Triumph
Kevin Coster croppedBecoming empowered with prostate cancer information is essential to making smart treatment choices and maintaining the highest possible quality of life. Prostate cancer survivor Kevin Coster from Oak Forest, IL, is a prime example. At 57 years old, Kevin took first place in the SEA Blue 5K run last year in his age division with a time of 25:38.7. Congratulations once again, Kevin! We look forward to seeing you at the event this year and cheering you on to achieve your personal best!

Tribute

Nancy & Russ GouldTen years ago, three impassioned volunteers directly impacted by prostate cancer decided to fight back. Russ Gould, Myrna Porter and Shirley Grey founded what is today the SEA Blue Chicago Prostate Cancer Walk & Run in 2005 to increase awareness for prostate cancer and recognize it as the second largest cancer killer of men following lung cancer. Sadly, Myrna and Shirley each lost her husband to prostate cancer, and Russ Gould passed away last December after battling the disease for 16 years. But the dedication to the event and commitment to its purpose are alive and well in the prostate cancer community. Nancy O’Brien, Russ Gould’s daughter, will be joined by her brothers, Russ Jr. and team captain Scott Gould, along with family members and friends to honor Russ at this year’s SEA Blue walk. They will carry the flag for TEAM RUSS GOULD as a tribute to the positive impact that Russ continues to have on so many people in the prostate cancer community; and as a reminder that we still have much to do.
